Happy New Year, loves!
This post is coming to you a little late since I (Mykala) have been out with a crazy cold.
And, while being sick during the holidays was no fun, it also gave me lots of time to rest and reflect...which was perfect leading up to the new year!
Now, unlike most people, I don't set New Year's resolutions. I have tried to, but it just doesn't work for me. Fortunately, I found something that does. I'd love to hear if you try this method OR what works for you. <3
Every January, I pick 1-3 words to focus on for the entire year. This allows me to keep my focus on those words rather than specific "do's" or don'ts."
Throughout the year, I use my chosen words to align my decisions. I have found that this works better for me rather than choosing specific things to do or avoid.
For example, last year one of my words was "create." I practiced deep awareness of my power as a creator. I leaned into new forms of art. I was intentional about my life decisions. I was conscious of my ability and power to change my own life.
"Create" was in the back of my mind all year long. It was there when I made the decision to move to Hawaii and got my ticket two weeks later. "Create" was also there when Hawaii no longer felt aligned and I left to be with my family. It was there when I created social media content and started wunderwander with Miriam!
"Create" was also there when I accepted a job in the Czech Republic and anxiety tried to stop me from going. It reminded me that I am stronger than fear and led me to 5 countries in one week while I traveled the Balkan countries with a stranger. "Create" was there when I reflected on 2023 and realized I had created an incredible year from literal scratch.
All of that based on one word.
I wonder what my new word will bring in 2024.............
Stay tuned!
xoxo
